Rowena Lapez – Executive Assistant, Accounting

I am Rowena Marie Lapez. I am married and have a daughter and a son. I graduated way back in 2003 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at Bohol Institute of Technology. When I discovered this work from home set-up, I had excitement in my heart and the eagerness to try this. That is why I prepared myself on how to perform such work, which is different from my corporate work.

I studied Quickbooks Online and Xero, accounting software that is widely used by clients in the online world. I also try to research some apps that are useful and I learned about Canva. I am a fast learner and trainable. I am open to new learnings that would enhance my skills and for the betterment of the services, I can offer to you.

I have an extensive work background in the field of accounting in the corporate world and in different industries. It enriched my skills and knowledge about accounting through actual work and practice.

As Covid-19 hit the world, I have decided to stay home and concentrate on looking for an online job. I had to make use of what the internet would offer to me and my family. I am a Coursehero tutor at present. I have also my own tutorial services that offer online accounting tutorials for students who need basic accounting knowledge.

Luckily, I found a client that hired me for part time project-based work. The coverage of my work was data entry, research works, audio transcription, and recording revenue and expenses. But the table turned around, as in December of 2021, our place here in the Philippines was hit by typhoon Odette/ Rai. The damage was severe that almost all electric posts and trees were down. No electricity and internet for several months. That made me stop working online. We had to fix our home for damages. Life was not easy at that time.

After 5 months, electricity and internet are now back. I need to double time to find a new job that could support our needs especially since the prices of commodities are going higher and higher.

I want to offer my skills and services to businesses that need assistance. I know I don’t have enough experience and exposure when it comes to the online job setting. I consider myself a newbie but very willing to learn. I would love to undergo training if possible. I want to prove myself that I can do whatever the jobs ask me to do in relation to accounting and bookkeeping.
