Aerille Jean Pilotos – Medical Data Review Specialist

Hi, I am Aerille Jean Pilotos, you can call me Yel or Jai. I graduated from Holy Cross of Davao College, and I took a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management. Being a working student, that time is quite challenging, but it is very helpful with my studies especially when it comes to financial needs. From a tourism student to working in the BPO industry is kind of a hard transition but challenging since customer service is part of the tourism industry.

Until now, I did not pursue my course because I found myself working in the BPO industry after I graduated. I gained experience and friends and more opportunity to know myself more. I did not expect that I would stay longer at a BPO company, from a customs brokerage account to handling different Home Health accounts, and it is very far from my college course. I am proud of myself that I manage to learn from a different industry and different tasks at work.

I also experienced giving up before because it is true that being a working student is hard, but it is a fulfilment feeling that I can be able to help my parents to provide for them and myself, and that’s the reason I did not give up and still encourage myself to work harder. It’s a great feeling that my efforts are appreciated, and that makes me an Employment of the Quarter after my regularisation.

In recent years, working in the BPO industry has given me a lot of confidence and helped me to know more about the about the different personalities, cultures, and traditions of the people that I worked with. I remember when my team leader said that working in the industry is hard, let’s not be the one who will make others feel hard on them, let’s be kind to each other. To spread a positive environment within a team, we should be more understanding and know how to respect because it is one of the important attitudes when working in a team.

I believe in the saying “No pain, no gain.” Hardships and challenges are just a big part of being successful. If I don’t face the challenges meaning I cannot grow. I want to grow and have a sustainable career, excel in my skills, learn more, and encourage myself to do better with what I am doing, it may be for work or for myself.
