Alfred Duterte – General Virtual Assistant, Customer Service

My name is Alfred Duterte, I am single and 25 years old of age. I studied at Card MRI Development Institutes in Bay Laguna, just to finish my four years degree in college. I came from a poor family but luckily, I graduated for I was a scholar at the time.

In 2022, a week after I graduated from college, I immediately went to Cebu, because my sister told me about a job opportunity. I applied for a customer service representative position, and I got accepted to work at ResultsCX Company. This is my very first-time job, I am nervous and afraid but at the same time, I am excited to work. As customer service rep, my work includes medical billing, names of Medicine, Insurance plan, medical coding, then lastly approval and authority for Doctors services.

My work is quite fun and enjoyable, but I had a problem with my transportation, basically from my sister’s apartment to my work location, it will consume 3 hours of travel, then from my work to apartment 3 hours also, so it has a total of 6 hours of travel and it’s so stressful because of the traffic. Unfortunately, I got sick, while I am taking calls, I started coughing, my whole body was shaking, and I had a heavy headache. I asked for a permission to my supervisor to give me one day to rest for recovery, sadly he did not approve. He told me that he needed all his agents to work, “that was his reason”.

I wrote an immediate resignation letter to my supervisor, even though I was top the 2 agent on his team. My friends were shocked and sad when I resigned, but they don’t understand that I am in pain. And it took me two weeks to recover for myself healing. Several months passed I heard about Virtual assistant, they said that it was stress free and work from home. So I watched a lot of videos in YouTube about virtual assistant. I studied about SEO, Pinterest, Canva, marketing, content management, Social media management and personal virtual assistant. I started applying online companies that hires virtual assistant, but most of the time they were looking for an experience VA. “How can someone gain experience if you don’t hire a nobody”. I attended all of my interviews and it all failed, I started 5 months ago trying hard to apply as VA yet no one hires me. My sister was angry about me , that I don’t have job for almost a year. Rejection after rejection is very hard swallow, I feel like giving up or quitting. But hearing those unbearable words from my sister made me decide not to quit. “ I am okay, that means I can bear it”. If ever I get hire, I will leave my sister apartment and live with my own life. I am not quitting for dreams, I will strive and work hard to achieve it.
