Angelica Sinad – Administrative Assistant, Control Officer

Hello, I’m Angelica D. Sinad, you can call me Angel/ Lyka,  25 years of age from the province of Isabela or widely known as the “Rice Bowl of the North”. I graduated with a degree in Business Administration major in Cooperative and Business Economics at Isabela State University- Echague Campus. I’m a mom to a cute little girl.

When I was still a student, I joined several organisations, became a college scholar academic awardee and became VP for audit in a Student Body Organization. When I was a student, I already had many dreams that I wanted to achieve in life. A student who dreams of a bright future after four years of college. I thought that after graduation, you will immediately find a good job, you will be able to buy what you want, but I’m in the reality of life that you won’t be able to reach it immediately unless you work hard and if you don’t have patience.

I started working in a car dealer company as a Sales Executive. I am thankful to this company because it was the first one that gave me an opportunity even though I had no experience and even though it was for only 6 months contractual only. As a Sales Executive at that time, I learned a lot like how to interact with clients, how to explain vehicle specs and take leads for clients who want to release a vehicle in the near future.

After my contract, I tried a Driving School accredited by the Land  Transportation Office as an Admin staff. I maintain records of the students and their schedules. The files should all be organised and I input them correctly into the system. Unfortunately,  the operation was stopped because of the pandemic and the driving school was just starting and as an employee, I see that my employer can no longer afford the salary – sometimes there is no salary, but at that time because of my loyalty to the company I stayed to help, especially as a person who also needs a job, I decided to resign.

After that, I ventured in Manila. I tried to send applications to different companies, I also tried to apply to the BPO company at that time. I had a job offer from a BPO company but someone hired me first and it was within walking distance from where I live so I accepted immediately. As a practical person, I thought about the distance. This is the difficult thing about onsite, you really need to commute to work, and you will have to endure heavy traffic. I turned out to be a Branch Control Officer in a Lending Company. Here I felt that I was improving even though I had no idea how to start, but I’m thankful because I still did my best. I prepare daily, weekly and monthly accounting reports, perform the bookkeeping function of the branch, and Entertain customers with regards with their inquiries and complaints.

That’s what I learned as a branch control officer. I’m thankful and I enjoyed working with my colleagues and I became regular at my work but unexpectedly something unexpected came which is my baby.

I found out I was pregnant and it’s delicate. The baby is weak and I’m in my city, which is far away from my family and my soon-to-be husband, so we talked about if ever I should just resign even though I would like to work there for a long time if I could work from home but I can’t because every day there is a collection and need that is actually onsite. So even though it was painful for me, I resigned for the sake of my baby and I returned home to the province to be taken care of and give birth there.

After giving birth, I became a full-time house wife who dreams of working at home as a Virtual Assistant, so I enrolled on other training centres for VAs to develop and enhance my skills. Until now, I still continue learning and sometimes watch tutorial videos on how to become a VA. As a mother who has been unemployed for a long time, I also hope to help with household expenses and my baby’s needs.

It’s a big thing when you work, you don’t think about commuting and traffic. Working from home is the best even though there is a big difference between working in the office or onsite. It is a big factor for a mother like me to be able to provide for the needs of the family, to be together and have time with them. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I can only say that I am determined to work hard and help the company or employer to make their life easier. I am still developing my ability to grow in my career that I want to take that I can apply to my work and my life. I know it’s hard at the beginning, but when you are determined and have self-confidence, anything is possible.
