Anne Shirleen Cheng – Administrative Assistant

anne-shirleen-cheng-profileHello! My name is Anne Shirleen Cheng. They usually call me AnneShi in the workplace and this is my story.

I am a Filipino-Chinese, born and raised in the Philippines. I grew up learning Basic Fukien in the conversations I had with my grandparents and Basic Mandarin in the Chinese schools I went to. I’ve always loved reading personality development and biblical books that have greatly contributed to my English vocabulary and proficiency.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management major in Culinary Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. As part of my internship, I had the chance to work for one of the busiest kitchens in Edsa Shangri-La Hotel where I was able to enhance my patience, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills and was offered my first job as a Kitchen Staff Member even before graduation.

Far from the course that I finished, the majority of my career shifted to Administrative, Customer Relations and Reception work after giving birth to my son in 2013. With my partner working in Singapore as a Chef and us living independently, it was a struggle for me to go to work and be able to be there as a mum to my son and that’s where I learned resiliency, time management and work life balance.

Wanting to earn extra even while working, I’ve also tried establishing a Facebook page and manage Facebook ads before and after work, selling Korean skin care products and supplements. It was a good experience at that time until my sources of stocks became inconsistent and I decided to stop. This experience helped anne-shirleen-cheng-dancingme learn and enhance my personal budget management, inventory management, social media management, time management and multi-tasking skills.

Every season in my life has allowed me to grow, mature and become better but no matter what my experiences are, I always keep a good learning and listening attitude. It is important that I remain humble, trustworthy and reliable with the work at hand.

In everything that I do, I strongly believe in the verse in the bible that says “whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with little will also be dishonest with much.” This verse has impacted my work ethic in a way that gives me the passion to work with excellence and honesty. I put much attention to every detail of what I do and I don’t mind going the extra mile to ensure that clients are happy with the work I’ve done.

I look forward in assisting and working with you soon.
