Esziel Joy Buendia – Restaurant Manager

Hello, I am Esziel Joy Buendia, you can call me Joy for short. I am 28 years old and currently residing here in the Philippines. I am a degree holder in Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Hospitality Management. I am the eldest with two other siblings. Even though we struggled a lot financially growing up, I am grateful to have hardworking parents, as they managed to help us finish our studies.

After finishing my degree, I applied as a Shift Manager at McDonald’s way back in 2018 with zero experience as it was my first job. Luckily, I got hired and worked with them for 3 years. After those incredible years with McDonald’s, I decided to quit and look for a new career and better opportunities.

In 2022, I got hired as a Shift Manager at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. After almost a year in the company, I was promoted to Assistant Restaurant Manager and was assigned as the Product Quality Manager of the branch. As a Product Quality Manager, my main focus was on Inventory and Food Quality Management. I was responsible for ordering stocks and monitoring inventories and preparing reports daily, weekly, mid-month and month-end. Aside from the system that was given to me, I was also responsible for shift management, doing admin tasks and sales reports, managing staff and their schedules, training and customer service. I also got the chance to attend Sales Rally events of the company, additional training for customer service enhancement and for people development. In a fast-paced environment, I can say that you can really improve a lot of your skills here.

As an introvert, I never saw myself leading a team before. This job helped me gain confidence in handling people. Also, this job helped me to enhance my decision-making and problem solving skills. As a Restaurant Manager, you’re also required to handle all tasks given at once. This is were I enhanced my time management skills. Imagine being on operations, working and moving non-stop during lunch to dinner peaks, and after you shift, you need to accomplish reports and admin tasks that should be sent within the day. The sad part here is that the overtime work isn’t paid, that’s why you really need to be smart on how to finish all of your tasks in eight hours. I can clearly say that this job helped me gain a lot of knowledge in the hospitality industry. But right now, I am ready to go out of my comfort zone.

I’ve been wanting to work and find a remote job for so long. And I think this is the time to do so. My restaurant job drained me a lot physically, you can’t have enough rest and time with your family, and the daily commute is so frustrating considering the traffic issues here in the Philippines. I am now seeking a Virtual Assistant job where I can work comfortably at home without being too physically exhausted. It is really my dream to work remotely, and I am hoping that this company could give me a chance. I know that I don’t have enough knowledge yet in this field, but I assure you that I am a very hardworking person, always open to gaining new knowledge and skills, a fast learner and can work with minimal supervision

I am looking forward to the opportunity to bring some of my expertise and commitment to excellence to a new role. Thank you, and I hope you’ll consider me.
