Golda Burcao – Administrative Assistant

golda-burcao-vaHi! I am Golda. I don’t have a nickname so you can just call me Golda.

I am an undergraduate of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology. The reason why I never pursued and finished my college degree is because I struggled to be a single mother at an early age. I got pregnant after I graduated from High School and didn’t know it until after I had already enrolled in college. I was just 16 back then since I had some advancements when I was still in high school. I started working when I was 18 years old with one of the biggest BPO companies here in the Philippines. If you don’t have a college degree in the Philippines, your only chance in life is to work in the BPO industry and that’s where I started.

When I started my career, I learned that the most important skill you need to acquire is Communication. Good thing I grew up watching English movies and I also used to read the books by Dan Brown, back when I still had time. These helped me broaden and enhance my English speaking skills.

As time went by, I realised that being in the BPO industry is not just all about communication. You need to be flexible and have a lot of patience. I started off with a sales account where I used to be an operator for an in-store directory in one of the biggest and most popular malls in the US. After my first 3 months of contract, I was transferred to Customer Service for a Financial Service Company, which enhanced my analytic skills and ability to work under pressure at a fast pace.

As a CSR, I handled payroll cards for the majority of employees in the US and educated them about their ITRs. I also used to be a supervisor for a Check Service of risk analysis. My tenure went so well with all the years I spent with this company, they recommended me to pioneer one of the newest accounts and partners that we had, which is an international money transfer company. After I mentored new agents and built new teams, I was transferred to another department which was an Airline Account.

golda-burcao-vaI worked and established my good reputation and career in the BPO industry for 5 years. This was the very first job that I had and it was very hard for me to leave the industry that I am already comfortable working with and the people with whom I have built relationships with.

When I had the opportunity to work from home, I decided to jump right into it because it’s more convenient. You get to stay at home and take care of your family, at the same time, earning while learning new skills and knowledge.

I’m currently working as a Real Estate Virtual Assistant where I perform cold calling for property investors and Agent recruitment, appointment setting, data entry, and email management using lead generation, google voice, google calendar, gsuite, slack, and mojo dialer. Aside from that, I had a hands-on temporary part-time job before as a virtual assistant in one of the tutorial services in the US where I performed appointment setting, tutor set up, and cold calling for leads using gsuite, Webex, zoom, docu sign, and Teamviewer.

Overall, my versatility and patience made me experience and learn a lot of things in different fields and I am confident that I’ll be able to succeed in every opportunity that comes my way.

I am looking forward to adding more value and to contribute to the company.
