Helene Clarish Bulanadi-Clemente – Customer Service Representative, Administrative Support

Hi, I’m Helene Clarish Bulanadi-Clemente, 34 years old, married for 7 years and have a 4-year-old daughter. I live in Dasmariñas, Cavite.  During the pandemic, I’m one of the regular employees who lost their job due to a high-risk situation, being pregnant. 11 months after giving birth, I tried to apply to a BPO company because they were offering a work-from-home setup. I tried my luck and shifted my corporate career in the BPO industry, and I was hired at Teleperformance as a Customer Service Representative in the Healthcare account for 7 months. Handling inbound calls, inquiring about their eligibility and benefits in their account. I resigned there because they told me to work on-site. We signed the contract that is a permanent work-from-home set-up, but because something happened in the account, all employees should work on-site. The site is far from where I live, and the struggle of cutting trips makes me push through resigning because it’s hard for me, and also the fare is high.

As a full-time housewife and full-time mum, what I love the most is when I do the household chores and prepare things for my husband and daughter to show them I love this family, even if it frustrates me that I don’t have work to help my husband with our financial needs. When the postpartum hits me again, it makes me feel selfless, having no job to provide also to my family. That’s why I tried looking again for a work-from-home setup and hired a side hustle on an online platform that could help my husband to pay our bills, even though it is minimum. I gained again the confidence of being myself, working at the same time. I’m the one who takes care of our daughter; we have the time to share because I’m working from home. And this is what I loved the most, having a career at the same time as being with my family. The work-life balance is there.

My hobbies right now are spending my time playing with my daughter and listening to music to sing (even though my voice is not good). My hope right now is to have a permanent work-from-home career that will help me prove that I deserve to be part of a successful team and also to learn more and achieve more. I want to give everything for the future of my daughter. My biggest fear is that I will stay like this; the self-confidence is too low, and I will not achieve my goal to land my dream career with a boss who is so kind and also prioritises and values his/her family. I’m afraid that no one will ever trust me to work with them. As I always tell every time that I attend the interview, I may be new in the industry, but everything is a matter of learning, sharing, and performing. We all come from zero knowledge, but we all learn new things.
