Jarryd Sheldon Le Roux – Data Entry Clerk
My name is Jarryd Sheldon Le Roux, and I am a son and a brother. My personal life was turned completely upside down when my father passed away just before I graduated high school. His passing left a void in our family, not just emotionally but financially as well, as he was the primary breadwinner. Thankfully, my mom had started a small business that began to flourish right when we needed it most, providing stability and hope during such a difficult time. Watching her resilience and determination inspired me to work hard and support my family wherever I could.
My first job was with a clinical psychologist. I was tasked with reading the handwritten personal, medical, and psychological evaluations of victims of motor vehicle accidents and input that information into a digital Word template so the psychologist could use this information to draft reports for the Road Accident Fund (RAF), which is a compulsory social insurance in my country that allows individuals to claim compensation after car accidents. While I gained valuable skills from this position, such as attention to detail and an understanding of sensitive documentation, the workload steadily increased while the pay did not. Ultimately, I had to leave as the demands of the job outweighed the compensation.
During this time, I also started helping my mother with her business. Her growing workload meant she needed assistance organising invoices and maintaining accurate records. I volunteered to help and took on tasks such as sorting sales and expense invoices, inputting data into Excel spreadsheets, and scanning documents to create digital backups. While this role didn’t come with monetary pay, it allowed me to develop organisational and data-management skills that I still use today.
These experiences have led me to explore the path of becoming a Virtual Assistant. I enjoy work that requires attention to detail, organisation, and problem-solving. The opportunity to work from home is especially important to me as I don’t currently own a car. I believe I am a strong candidate for this field because I adapt and learn quickly, and I already have experience managing documents and working with spreadsheets. My goal is to secure a flexible and enjoyable job that will allow me to better provide for my family while also enabling me to grow professionally. I am determined to create a stable and fulfilling career, and I am excited to take this next step in my journey.
