Jonalyn Cabural – Social Media Manager

Hi, I’m Jonalyn Cabural, but most people call me Jona. I’m a 31-year-old wife and mama to a precious little girl. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from Far Eastern University in 2013, I landed my first job as a concierge at One Serendra in Taguig Philippines. That job working with residents and getting to know the area was a fantastic experience. My time at One Serendra helped me develop strong administrative skills, communication skills, and customer service skills.

After a fulfilling year at One Serendra, I decided to explore new horizons. When my sister offered me a visit to Singapore, I saw an opportunity.  I actively looked for work, and my hustle paid off with an interview and a role as a Service Executive at Swissotel the Stamford and Fairmont Hotel Singapore.  This 4-year experience was amazing! I thrived in various roles – receptionist, cashier, and server – and eventually enjoyed a fulfilling role in reservations where I used my administrative and customer service skills.

Life took a beautiful turn in 2020 with my marriage and the birth of my amazing daughter. Embracing motherhood full-time, I also pursued my passion for baking by starting a small business selling pastries. However, the joy was met with a challenge as the pandemic arrived, affecting my ability to run the business as planned.

My online research for remote work opened my eyes to the world of virtual assistants. I was fascinated by the possibilities, and I actively wanted to learn more. Free webinars provided a great introduction, and I further expanded my knowledge by enrolling in Virtual Assistant and Social Media Mastery courses.

I landed my first remote position as a Social Media Manager for a local small business in our area. I held this role for a year.

One of the greatest benefits of working from home is spending more quality time with my daughter. I can be there for her after-school activities or lunch breaks, and I’m readily available if she needs anything which wouldn’t be possible with a traditional office job.

This time, I still wanted to learn more to offer greater value to future clients and continue growing in my career and as a person. Since returning to the Philippines, I’ve actively participated in an Apprenticeship program on social media marketing and virtual assistance skills.  These skills will complement my experience in hospitality and allow me to pursue a fulfilling path in working remotely.
