Josephine Gonzales – CSR and Team Lead
My name is Josephine Gonzales, I am a mother of a 22-year old girl and a 1 year old boy. I am the eldest among 5 children so I grew up helping out my parents in taking care of my siblings. You may say that I learned how to be mature at an early age because both my parents needed to make a living for all of us. It was challenging but it was also rewarding. It taught me discipline and lessons I needed to learn to be strong and determined.
I had my daughter when I was 18 years old and that was a new challenge in my life. I needed to provide for my daughter and to finish my studies at the same time. It was not easy but I faced the challenge as best as I could. I am really proud of myself for succeeding in that challenge. It taught me a lot. I discovered things about myself that I was not aware of and it made me a better person.
As for my career, I started working as a Sales Secretary for an automotive company then became an Office Receptionist. That time I was happy with my work but I needed to think about my daughter’s future so I had to look for another job.
In the year 2000, I became a Legal Secretary. I learned many things from being a Legal Secretary but the salary was still not enough for our family so I decided to start up my own business. It was a towing business under a government contract for 2 years. This was another challenging phase of my life but as always, I was able to surpass that.
Before the contract ended, I needed to think of ways to make a living. That opened the door for BPO industries. I started working in the BPO industry for a US directory assistance company. After working as an agent for a year, I got promoted as a Team Lead and performed that role for 3 years.
In 2011, I transferred to another BPO company catering for customer service for a UK financial institution but resigned after 2 years. I decided to work in Dubai but eventually decided to return to the Philippines because of family matters. I continued my career in the BPO industry and went back to the company I had worked with. In 2016, I got promoted as a Team Manager.
In 2018, I had my son. I had difficulty in finding a babysitter for my child so I decided to find a home based job. I think this is the only way to continue my career and take care of my family as well. Hopefully I will be given the opportunity in this industry so I can share knowledge, skills and create a positive impact on other people.
