Kimberly Lou Tenorio – Healthcare Virtual Assistant, Customer Service Representative
Kia Ora! I am Kimberly Lou Tenorio. I am the youngest in the family, with an 11-year gap with my big brother. I got my degree in Radiologic Technology in Colegio de Sta Catalina de Alejandria located in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. I was once a dreamer but fought life, and still fighting life, as a risk-taker, one step at a time.
After graduating, I applied to numerous job openings posted online. After one after the other and countless rejections as a fresh graduate with no experience, I have landed a pioneer local healthcare insurance opportunity in the BPO industry.
I have experienced the Customer Service Representative life journey in simultaneously handling calls (inbound and outbound), emails, chat, and SMS. It was tough and sometimes heart-wrenching as you assist different customers and situations every day, but I enjoyed the job because, aside from English, we were allowed to speak in Tagalog, Bisaya, and Hiligaynon if needed for more in-depth communication with the customers and hospital staff.
During the pandemic in 2020, I had difficulty looking for open positions as health protocols were strict and I’m considered as a person with comorbidity due to my asthma; the companies and offices were also in the halt of posting positions. My brother was already a home-based Web Designer and Programmer, which led me to aim and set a goal to do my best in gaining more experience and skills to enter the Virtual Assistant industry. From leaping to different accounts and industries just to gain knowledge and skills, it took me 2 to 3 years to be able to get to where I am now.
In 2023, I got my big break. I was hired in an Australian off-shore staffing company. I learned a lot from the training of the company and from the client. It was way easier to absorb things directly from them as I could ask freely all the queries I had in mind without being afraid or shy. As an introvert, being the only person trained, and working independently with a client is what I favor most.
In the next coming years, my goal is to learn more applications, explore more skills, and gain more experience and knowledge in the different “genres” in the Virtual Assistant industry. I find it fun and exciting to learn new things every day as it helps our brain to stay young and healthy.
