Kimberly Ursua – Content Moderator, Customer Service Representative

Hi, I am Kimberly Ursua, you can call me Kim. I am a breadwinner and I’ve been working for 5 years now to support myself and my father. I’m a senior high school graduate at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I wasn’t able to finish college because I was asked by my mother to help her with our finances way back in 2019.

When I got my first job, I was so happy because I’d be able to give back and help my parents. But unfortunately, I lost my mother last April 1, 2020. Those were the hardest times of my life, aside from losing my mother I was diagnosed with bell’s palsy 10 days after she passed away. During that time I’m still grieving to the loss of my loved one, while I am struggling to recover from bell’s palsy. I was hopeless at that time, I kept thinking about my future, will I able to recover from my sickness, and what will happen to me if things will not go back the way it used to be. But I always have my mom’s advice, “keep trying and keep doing your best”, that’s what she used to say whenever I am doubting myself. And here I am.

I started my career as a customer service representative and as someone who’s new to the BPO Industry, it was indeed challenging. Not to mention the first account I handled which was outbound sales. I almost gave up, I planned to submit a resignation three months after getting that job. But I would like to prove to myself that I can do it. There’s no such thing as an “easy” job, in everything that I wanted to do or accomplish. I need to do it with confidence and just believe in myself.

And after a few years, as I gained skills and experiences, as I learned from my leaders, support, and colleagues, I wanted to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone. Applying as a virtual assistant never came into my mind not until I wanted a career change, it’s not easy as I don’t have any direct experience as a virtual assistant, I faced a lot of rejections from different companies, but just like what my mom said to me, just keep trying and keep doing my best.

I may be new to this industry and there are a lot of challenges that I’ll be facing, but I want to prove my eagerness to learn more about being a virtual assistant. This may be very difficult but I aim for personal and career growth.
