Marie Boots Quintero – Online Community Manager, Nurse
Hi, my name is Marie Boots Quintero, you may call me Boots. I’m a mother to two lovely kids. I’ve spent my life wearing many hats – nurse, entrepreneur, mother, and now virtual assistant. Born and raised in the Philippines, I always felt drawn to knowing and helping other people. Which naturally led me in taking up a course in Bachelor degree in Psychology in 1996. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish my first college degree because I needed to be a mother first. After some years, I decided to continue studying, but this time a different course. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009, and in 2010 I became a Registered Nurse.
For some time, I found fulfilment in patient care, where I was able to provide compassionate support to those in need. But life, as it does, threw me a curve ball.
In 2014, I took on a new challenge by starting my own aesthetic business. This was a different kind of caregiving – helping people to feel beautiful and confident. Running a business taught me to be resilient, organised and detail-oriented. I handled everything from client relations to scheduling appointments and managing staff, all while maintaining the high standards I set for myself in healthcare. This chapter of my life nurtured my entrepreneurial spirit and gave me a new perspective on balancing my personal and professional life.
As my children grew, my interests evolved. After 8 years of my entrepreneurial career, I decided to look for a new role that would still align with my professional goal. I took myself to classes that would level up my skills and broaden my knowledge. I decided to embrace a new opportunity: becoming a virtual assistant. I realized that I could take all the skills I had learned over the years – nursing, customer service, administration and leadership. Apply them to a field that offers flexibility and growth, gaining certifications in virtual assistance and soon find myself thriving in roles that allow me to help a business operate smoothly through a community management role.
Today, I find myself in a unique position where I can work from home, support my family and continue to grow professionally. I am always learning, always evolving and always aiming to provide the best service possible. My journey hasn’t been traditional but it’s been fulfilling in ways I never imagined. I’m proud of where I’ve been and I’m excited for where I’m headed.
