Mary Angela Bello – Virtual Executive Assistant, Social Media Manager

My name is Mary Angela Bello, my friends call me “Mhare” but I prefer to be called “Angela” at work. Growing up, I used to hustle a lot, which I believe is something I brought with me up until today. I remember making some munchkins and selling it at school because I love the idea of generating income to buy things for myself.

I grew up in a middle-income family that’s why it’s engraved within me to work hard for everything I want to get. When I was in college, my grandmother, who stood as our parent, had a mild stroke. She supported our education and when she got paralysed, all the money she had was used for her maintenance. I never thought of not enrolling. Instead, I applied for a job and I worked as a Virtual Assistant. At the same time, I sell clothes online while juggling so hard to finish my thesis paper. I was so dedicated to finishing my degree because being an undergrad in the Philippines would be so challenging. Gladly, I finished my degree with flying colours. I was so happy at that moment, at the same time, a little bit sad because the person whom I wished to be with me on the aisle during my graduation couldn’t march with me. However, I’m still lucky because she knew I graduated and the award is just a bonus.

Over the years, I have had several remote jobs, working as an appointment setter, executive virtual assistant, and social media manager. I gained skills that make me more valuable. These opportunities impacted my financial status. I was able to support my family, help a few people, and start small businesses, and I was able to see some parts of the Philippines that I had never visited before. Working remotely is a privilege and this is something that we should treasure whenever given a chance. A lot of people wished to work from home but not everyone was given a chance. This is why, it is important that we prioritise producing high-quality work and be reliable workers so clients won’t regret hiring us. However, there’s one thing I learned from this job- there’s no stability. But when you think of it, If you’re really a reliable VA, clients will always seek for your service. In the end, it’s our gained skills and knowledge that will help us work efficiently.
