Mary Joy Dagala – Content Moderator, Customer Service Representative

My name is Mary Joy Dagala, most people call me Mary. I am a single mother of three wonderful girls. I have faced life’s challenges with unwavering determination, ensuring my daughters grow up in a nurturing and supportive environment while building a career for myself in preparation for my girls’ future.

In 2010, I started my professional journey in the BPO industry. My natural ability to empathise with others and my keen problem-solving skills made me a perfect fit for the fast-paced and demanding world of customer service. Over the years, I worked with several international brands, gaining a reputation for my dedication and excellence. One of my most memorable roles was with AAA, where I spent a year providing emergency roadside assistance to clients in Washington and Canada. The job required a calm demeanour and quick thinking, and I often received commendations from grateful customers.

I transitioned to non-voice roles, and I thrived in content moderation. For over two years, I worked diligently to ensure the safety and integrity of a major social media platform, keeping it clean and safe for users worldwide. My attention to detail and commitment to upholding community standards made me an indispensable part of my team.

I also took on leadership roles. I managed a team of new hires for a U.S.-based telecommunications company, guiding them through both onsite and virtual training sessions. My ability to mentor and inspire others left a lasting impact on my trainees, many of whom went on to become successful agents themselves.

When the pandemic hit, I faced the challenge of adapting to a new way of working. The transition to remote work was not without its hurdles, but I embraced the change tenaciously. I set up a home office while balancing my responsibilities as a mother, and I continued to excel professionally. The remote setup allowed me to be more present for my daughters while maintaining my career trajectory.

My daughters have been my greatest motivation. My love for them is evident in everything I do, from the long hours I dedicated to work to the quality time I spend with them. Whether it’s helping with school projects, sharing meals, or simply being there to listen, I ensure my girls feel loved and supported.

My story is a testament to the strength of a mother’s love and the power of perseverance. I am not just a survivor of life’s challenges but a thriver, proving that with determination and heart, it’s possible to build a bright future for oneself and one’s family.

Although I don’t have direct Virtual Assistant experience, my diverse background equips me with transferable skills such as organisation, adaptability, and effective communication. I’m eager to bring my dedication and experience to support your teams success.
