Mary Niel Anosa – Auditing, Accounting

Hi! I’m Mary Niel Anosa, but you can call me Nel. I am a Financial and Accounting Professional.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy. I graduated from National College for Business and Arts in Quezon City, Philippines. I have been working for almost 6 years now in the field of accounting, auditing and office management. Before I entered the accounting field, I worked abroad for almost 2 years as an office staff in the accounting department in the Republic of Palau. That’s the starting point where I decided to continue my study and take up Accountancy. I went back to the Philippines and studied BS Accountancy. To make my story short, I graduated in 2015. (yahoo)

After I graduated, I took the licensure examination but unfortunately, I didn’t pass. But that didn’t stop me. Immediately after that, I worked as a junior auditor in an Auditing firm in Quezon City. I am responsible for preparing the financial statements of our clients that will be assigned to the team. I have experience handling different industries like Manufacturing, Trading, Construction, Retail, and Non-profit Organisation. I assist them in preparing their corporate tax returns for their annual audited financial statements. Performing audit fieldwork and audit procedures necessary to obtain evidence as to the fairness of the client’s financial statements. It was here where I learned to address my clients properly and efficiently and of course based on sound good accounting practices. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay longer for some personal reasons.

From auditing, I switched to being an accounting associate in a manufacturing company. As an accounting associate, I am the one who prepares the month-end report regarding the Accounts Receivable balances. I handle Accounts Receivable accounts. Reconciling General Ledger accounts with customers Subsidiary Ledger accounts. Being an associate makes me a team player because we work as a team. I am reporting to the Senior Chief Accountant, and from time to time, I am working on the tax reconciliation and some tasks that the chief accountant asks me to do.

Fast Forward, recently, I have been employed at a rural bank here in my neighbourhood, The Gateway Bank. I am the Internal Audit Head. Being the Supervisor, I am the one who drafts the audit and compliance programs to be done for the whole year. I supervise the team in the execution of the audit procedures. Review and consolidate all the reports and directly issue them to the management and the board of Committee. It was here I realised that I am a strong person who can overcome challenges and encourage growth in those around me.

I am really interested in the work from home set up even before. I really wanted to have more time with my family because I have a 6-year old toddler. I wanted to see her grow, and I wanted to guide her in her studies. When the pandemic came, I realised so many things. One of these is the time you waste outside your home and striving for a career and it doesn’t make sense. I wanted to be in this line of industry and strive for a career that could bring me much more time with my family.

I know I can be a valuable team member because of the experience I will be bringing. I am a strong professional with experience in the financial industry that I believe can help my clients to be able to reach their goals. I can say that I am not that excellent in communication skills (an average), but I am always pursuing excellence and giving my very best in everything I do. I am seeking a position in VA financial where my skills and talents could be made productive.

In my spare time, I love watching movies and series together with my daughter. I love a good coffee while reading books. I love music, especially country music. I also love to travel. Working from home can give me so many opportunities to do that. I consider this a blessing since this ultimately removed my commute time, and I can watch my daughter and guide her studies even though I am pursuing a career. Also, this can give more work-life balance experience.

Thank you for reading my story. I hope I can be part of your team. I am looking forward to being a successful Virtual Assistant. I am so excited about this opportunity.

Yours Truly…. MARY NIEL ANOSA (VA)
