Olivia Luciano – Administrative Assistant

olivia-luciano-vaI am Olivia Osias-Luciano. They call me Olive! I come from a family of five, including me, with both my parents working hard to give us a comfortable life. This has helped me to understand that teamwork is one most important things you need to survive. I have one brother and one sister. I am the youngest in the family.

We are living in the province of Bulacan. My father died when I was in third year high school. That time, my older brother was already working and he helped my mother to support my education since I was enrolled in a private school. My sister got married at an early age, that is why it was really my brother and I who worked hand in hand to improve our future.

Because of this, I decided to study in a State University that offers free tuition fee because I don’t want to be a burden to my older brother. I wanted him to enjoy life and his earnings and to save for his future family.

When I finished my secondary level, I was very confident that I can take and pass the entrance exam at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila). All students at PLM are full scholars provided that you will maintain a grade of 85% above in all subjects. And I made it! I took up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management and finished in four years with no tuition fees paid. Since my brother is working and lives in Manila, we decided to move in with him.

I immediately started working two months after my graduation. That was in July 2000. I started with entry level jobs. In 2007, I started managerial jobs. Since then, I’ve gained a strong administrative and leadership skills. I also learned professional selling, inventory, procurement and warehousing.

olivia-luciano-vaFive years after, I decided to look for another challenging role and became an area manager at Pharma Nutria MML. I also handled the procurement office, market intelligence research, customer’s account office and accounts receivables. Unfortunately, March 2021, a day after my birthday, the company announced that my current position will be declared as redundant due to the effect of the pandemic and I had to exit on a month’s time.

I am now happily married for 15 years, with 2 dependents. My eldest is a 14-year old responsible little man and my youngest is a 5-year old smart baby girl. We are living in our own house. My husband works abroad but decided to stay here for good a year after we got married. He manages his own catering services and invest his funds to buy and sell. My son is an incoming Grade 9 and my daughter is an incoming nursery.

It was really sad when I received the news that my employment will be terminated in the middle of this pandemic. That’s why I am applying in your company. This position seems like a great opportunity to advance my skills and continue building my career and challenging myself in a new normal set up.
