Paolo Alejandro Yulo – Marketing Specialist, Virtual Assistant

Hi, My name is Paolo Alejandro Yulo, You can call me Pao or Paolo. I have been working as a virtual assistant for 5 years for a firm that handles law firm websites. Before, I never imagined working as a virtual assistant since I was already a Quality Assurance Specialist and that was one of my dream roles when I started working in the BPO industry.  But you never know what challenges and hurdles you might encounter that would give way to an expected opportunity.

I was not able to get my degree due to financial and family issues. But that didn’t hinder me from applying for a job in a call centre. At first, I was hesitant since I was the only one that did not have a diploma. But I wanted to prove to them that I have the skills and talent that they need. After I got hired, my goal was to learn and absorb as much as I could so that I could get promoted.  I can assure you that hard work pays off because after a year I was promoted to Quality Assurance Specialist. It was my dream role and I was happy to be part of the QAS family for almost 4 years.

Then the time came that I needed to part ways with the company that I had been working with for 4 years. It was hard at first but I knew that it was the right thing to do not for myself but for my family.

When my wife gave birth to our 3rd child, we had to move to my In-laws so that they could help us take care of our newborn. That was the time that I was allowed to work as a virtual assistant. At first, I was nervous since It was my first time working directly under a Manager and the tools that they were using were different from what I was used to. It took me a week to master the tools and to get familiarised with the new working environment.

I’m thankful to have been given a chance to work at home, see all my kids grow up, and have enough time to spend with my family. As my VA journey continues I want to step out of my comfort zone and learn new things so that I can grow not only as a person but as a virtual assistant.
