Rizalyn Pudilanan – Administrative Assistant

Rizalyn-Pudilanan-vaHello! I’m Rizalyn Pudilanan you can call me “Riza” – wife, full-time mom, and guardian to my two siblings.

I am a college graduate with a degree in AB economics. Since then, I have worked for different companies. My previous job was Admin support specifically on the supply chain. I decided to resign from my previous job because I want to focus on my siblings. Since I’ve been working, I didn’t have enough time for them. I was not there to witness their milestone. That’s the reason why I resigned from my previous job.

When I decided to be a full-time mom, I enrolled in the freelancing course because I want to indulge in the work-from-home set-up at the same that I can take good care of my siblings. This gave me an idea on what are the task of the virtual assistant. In that course, they taught us how to perform the task like social media creation and optimization, planning and creation, scheduling on social media post and content, SEO on/off the page, lead generation, basic email marketing, simple website creation, optimization and management and lastly Facebook ads. In addition to this, I join webinars to expand my skills in email management, product research, and product listing.

Being admin support gave me an opportunity to challenge my skills beyond my limitations. Working at my previous company sharpened my skills, emotions, and interpersonal relationships. I worked in that company for 6 staggard years. At first, I worked as a personal assistant where I schedule meetings, remind deadlines, prepare the documents, did data entry, and answer the customers’ queries. As time went by, they assigned me to the higher position which is in sales. This time, it was challenging because the workload was increased by attending to the customer concerns, inquiries, and suppliers inquiries, control the quality like the date of expiry, production date, and the number of dates of replacement/returns, update the customer’s AR/AP. It’s more like customer service. You have Rizalyn-Pudilanan-vato coordinate the suppliers and the purchaser in charge just to avail the item that you want to purchase, negotiate the prices, the discounted price, the selling price, the arrival of the item, and the quantity. After some time, they again promoted me as the overall in charge of the business where I take charge of the business transactions and my direct command is the owner. I was entrusted with the decision-making about the business transactions. At the end of the day, I will make a report about the day’s transaction, submit the reports, and other concerns that need the approval of the owner.

This task was very challenging because you have to consider the pro and cons, the urgent and not so urgent, and the welfare of the team. It tested my patience and analytical thinking. But it also taught me that working together as a team would be beneficial as a whole, not for the business only. It sharpened my leadership, especially when it came to handling difficult people with a different perspective in life. But one thing I’ve learned is that it is not about you as a leader but it’s about the good relationship and how you put things into place, that at the end of the day everyone is growing.

One lesson I’ve learned is to always set a goal in every task so that it will lead you to a productive outcome. Working as a team is a big help to make the task light and done in a timely manner while working alone will test your capabilities to fulfill your limits and will lead you to become a rockstar VA.

Even if I’m a newbie, it was never a hindrance to me to keep up with other candidates because I believe I have the skills that I can offer to the clients. I’m a driven and self-learner person when it comes to accepting the task. I am reliable and can keep confidentiality. I am goal-oriented in performing the task in order to produce good quality output in a timely fashion.
