Samantha Abalunan – Customer Service Representative

After reading the different stories of failure and success in life our VA’s have experienced, I realised that each one of us has different motives as to why we enter this kind of field. In my case, I felt like a small newbie, because I barely have any experience in being at my lowest in my life compared to others. I am 22 years old, residing in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. I enjoy watching Korean dramas when I was still in Senior High.

I have always wanted to experience doing part-time jobs while studying since I have always wondered how it feels to be independent and earning money from hard work without asking your parents for money.
With that idea of having a part-time job, it made me realise that it is time for me to stop relying too much on my parents because I have 3 brothers who are still studying at this time and I have been aware that earning money is not an easy task at all.

When I was in grade 11, the company where my dad used to work was offering summer jobs for their sons and daughters to support the parents temporarily with extra income. It was also exposure for us on how it feels like working 8 hours a day. Even though I was just sitting there and waiting for my superior to give me tasks, it was already challenging and tiring. From arranging cheques, encoding, and decoding, I found it exhausting and it made me think of the hard work my parents go through every day and still manage to take care of us even after work. I have been applying for jobs many times and even with my small experience, I am more than willing to learn and be trained. If I will land a job with you one day, I will be grateful for I can now help in supporting my family, since they are my driving force.

I value money and time. Money will never make us happy but we can buy the necessities that we need and the things that make us happy and allow us to have a stable life. The worth of time has been a vital thing to each one of us ever since the world began. As I grow older, I have become more aware of the importance of time, and I will always treasure every single moment God has given it to us.
