Airene Ruby Himuta – Customer Service Representative

Hello, I am Airene Ruby Himuta. Most people call me Airene. I am happily married and was blessed with a child. I graduated from St. Paul University Dumaguete with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I passed the Nurse’s Licensure Examination last July 2011. I also passed the Professional Career Service Eligibility last May 2019.

A few months after I became a registered nurse, I started working in the call centre industry dealing with customer’s orders and sales, performing data entry and collation, double checking customer’s addresses for correct delivery of products, handling credit/debit card information and upselling. The top performers were endorsed to an American television provider account and luckily, I was part of the associates who got endorsed. I learned how to provide instructions and troubleshooting steps and how to properly explain the bills of the customers. Data analysis and problem-solving skills were enhanced during my tenure.

I decided to apply to another BPO company which is located in my hometown. I worked there as a call centre representative for 9 years. We received inbound calls related to inquiries, troubleshooting and sales of the products. We also did outbound calls to customers to make sure that they were satisfied with the service and to offer help if needed. I also had an opportunity to be a Subject Matter Expert in the training department which helped me gain skills related to training new hires.

During the pandemic, I realised the benefits that one can gain from working remotely. Then a client gave me an opportunity to work as a freelancer. It was the best decision that I made. I was able to adapt to the changes in the work environment. I realised that working remotely would give you less immediate support compared to working in a corporate world but it would also enhance your skills and confidence in your job. It allowed me to strive hard to learn more about how things work in a home-based job. I had experience in doing follow-up calls getting vehicle titles or requesting for pay off quotes to different lien holders and bank institutions. I also had the opportunity to be an administrative assistant helping the accountants in issuing refunds via cheque, stripes or wire to customers related to vehicle returns, insurance cancellation, repair and overpayment, processing vehicle insurance cancellations, applying payment entries in Netsuite and replying to customer’s/lender’s queries through email or slack.

Through the years, I was able to develop a proper work ethic. My previous jobs moulded me into a person with a good attitude, striving hard to become a better person every day and working hard to provide a better future for my family and for the company.”
