Andrew Lauren Ruiz Socia – Website Developer, Mobile Development

andrew-socia-vaHello, I am Andrew Lauren Ruiz Socia; you can call me Andrew. I graduated with a degree in information technology from St. Paul College Foundation Inc., now the University of Cebu Pardo Talisay campus.

I started working as a web developer, working on multiple projects like iAmax, which is a platform used to sell mobile loads for Globe Telecom, pawning services for a local pawnshop chain, and customer and billing management for electric cooperatives.

Around 2014, I developed and interest in mobile development and began studying Android app development through Youtube Tutorials. Fortunately, I was soon assigned to mobile project called Mobile Meter Reader, a tool for electric cooperatives that allowed field personnel to record and generate bill after inputting the meter reader in the field.

After staying in the same company for 8 years, I transferred to a company called Brainhub Inc. and I was assigned to a project AirNav Pro, a mobile application for air navigation. It has a lot of features, but the most memorable feature that I implemented on the App was ScratchPad, where the user or pilot would be able to add notes in the scratchpad. The notes in the scratchpad can be exported as pdf or an image.

However, I was forced to resign from BrainHub Inc. because of the pandemic. Then, I was hired by Xynapx Inc., where I was assigned to work on CloudPx, a mobile app designed for scheduling doctor appointments. This app proved to be timely and highly relevant, especially during the pandemic, as many patients were hesitant to visit clinics and hospitals in person.

After the pandemic was declared over, I sought new opportunities to continue advancing my skill set and was hired by Forty Degrees Inc. I was assigned to a project called Native Camp, an app that facilitates scheduling appointments with teachers. My primary duties at Forty Degrees included implementing new features and resolving bugs to ensure the app’s smooth functionality.

After six months, I left Forty Degrees Inc. when a friend introduced me to freelancing. Since then, I’ve been working as a freelancer, where I’ve expanded my skill set significantly. In web development, I’ve acquired proficiency in Angular, .NET Core, C#, and LINQ. For mobile development, I’ve deepened my expertise in Kotlin, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Room Database, Dagger Hilt, Flow, and Coroutines. Additionally, I’ve been working with Flutter, enabling me to create multi-platform applications from a single codebase.
