Charlotte Faye Ligan – General Virtual Assistant
I am Charlotte Faye Ligan, known as Lotty, a 25-year-old residing in the Philippines. As the eldest of six siblings, family has always been central to my life. I graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies from Bohol Island State University – Main Campus. Although teaching was my initial path, circumstances led me to take an interest in pursuing career opportunities that would allow me to stay closer to home. I realise that it is possible to succeed in my career and have spent quality time with my family at the same time.
The pandemic served as a pivotal moment for me. It highlighted the possibility of achieving career advancement while prioritising family time. Despite starting as a Job Order employee with a salary below the minimum wage at the Commission on Audit, I viewed it as a valuable opportunity amidst economic uncertainties. This role, despite being different from my educational background, provided significant learning experiences. I mostly perform administrative tasks including creating summaries, submitting reports, reviewing and validating transmitted forms, and so on. I quickly adapted to the demands of the job, honing skills in adaptability, flexibility, resourcefulness, and rapid learning became crucial as I tackled diverse tasks.
Transitioning to remote work, particularly as a Virtual Assistant, was a daunting prospect initially. Despite my existing experience, I lacked confidence and felt my skills were inadequate. To bridge this gap, I committed to online training programs focused on Virtual Assistance. Additionally, I gained practical experience as a Customer Service Representative. I have handled more than 50 calls a day, resolved conflicts promptly, and maintained a positive attitude even under pressure helped me refine my interpersonal, communication, and technical skills using various platforms and tools.
I have come to value the humility of always being teachable. Recognising that no one possesses all knowledge and skills has motivated me to continually seek growth opportunities. This mindset fuels my determination to excel in new roles and adapt to changing professional landscapes. Along the way, there will be times when I will face uncertainties, but I always remember that what I do not know I can learn.
Working from home isn’t just about personal convenience; it’s about creating a balanced, flexible, and fulfilling work environment. Beyond the practical advantages, my passion lies in supporting others and helping them reach their full potential. This commitment drives me to contribute meaningfully to every role I undertake.
My journey towards remote work has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of growth. Each step, from navigating unexpected career paths to embracing new challenges, has strengthened my commitment to achieving professional success while prioritising family and personal fulfillment.
