Christine Lim – Administrative Assistant

christine-mae-lim-vaMy name is Christine. I am a mother, animal lover, wife, and an entrepreneur all in one. I loved reading books and even writing fictional novels when I was in high school, but stopped writing when I went to college because studying a medical course entailed much time and effort that I had to focus on my studies.

I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Velez College, but I wanted to study Veterinary Medicine because saving animal lives was one of my passions, next to writing. Although I was not able to fulfill my dreams of becoming a veterinarian or a writer because of my parents who wanted something else for me, I am running a pet store now, which is the closest things I could get to becoming a vet.

I used to work as a medical technologist or a laboratory scientist at a local tertiary hospital for five years until I quit my job to start my pet store. I was missing the challenge at my work and I wanted to do something for myself that’s was why I started my store. While working at my store, I studied for Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business during the weekends. The pet shop was not doing so well at first and I needed something more stable to be able to finish my MBA so I worked for Upwork for a little while as a writer for a travel blog and also had to work as an SEO writer for hotels as I promote their rooms and accommodations.

christine-mae-lim-vaMy friend and I were invited to become insurance agents of Pru Life U.K. My writing stopped again because I had to focus my energy on selling insurance to be able to hit my targets and avail of the company incentives offered to achievers. We stayed there for seven years and I was an awardee year after year until we transferred to Manulife, another insurance company. I loved talking to people and meeting them that was why I was able to stay in the insurance industry for ten years. Unfortunately, this pandemic happened. I have a family to feed now with three children and my income in the insurance is no longer enough so I went back to my initial passion which is writing. Luckily, I was hired as an SEO writer for Label Supply Mart and Rachel’s Tea but I wanted a more stable work and more projects that is why I am here.

Although it was a long time since I worked online, I am a fast learner. I am also easy to talk to and I ask questions when I am unsure of the task being asked. I may not be the best writer also but I am willing to learn and I am open to constructive criticisms. Hopefully, this is the job I am looking for.
