Daphne Guiritan – Administrative Assistant

daphne-guiritan-vaHi – I am Daphne D. Guiritan from Davao City, Philippines.

I graduated in April of 2015 and had my first job as a Social Media Marketer. Working without experience was quite challenging since I had no idea of how to handle tasks, but with the help of my colleagues, everything went smoothly and I am glad to say that our team became the most outstanding team in the office. I learned that co-workers are a big factor to helping you advance your career.

After a year of working as a Social Media Marketer, I had an opportunity to work as a Virtual Assistant. I handled two dynamic clients. I learned how to handle different types of tasks and how to categorise them based on their urgency. I also learned that time management helps you manage your job properly.

After working as a Virtual Assistant, I decided to look for a corporate job that would help me enhance my acquired skills during my first two years of employment. I became a Technical Assistant in a real estate company. I was assigned to work with the construction department which means I worked with the Architects, Engineers and suppliers. The work was completely different from my first two experiences but nevertheless, I was still able to do the job and learned a lot of things, particularly with regards to construction. I didn’t do things virtually anymore, as all documents needed to be in paper format. I learned how to file and release documents, perform daphne-guiritan-valiquidations, reimbursements, process cash advances and talk to possible suppliers over the phone. All of these tasks overwhelmed me occasionally but thankfully, I was able to execute them well.

I loved what I was doing, but then I became pregnant in August of 2019 and had to stop working because we were working on a construction site which could be dangerous for my child and I. So I stopped working in January 2020 and decided to stay at home until I delivered my baby. And then the pandemic hit. After giving birth, I worked as a full-time mum and I can say that this is the toughest job I have ever had! The job of being a mum does not allow you to take a break… but it is very rewarding to see your child grow.

Since I am a single mum, I can’t afford to work outside from home so I decided to look for a career that will allow me to stay at home so I can work and still see my baby each day.

I have learned a lot of things in my 5 years of working. I know there are a lot of tasks I still need to learn and please know that I am very keen to learn. I would love to work and learn with you!
