Deceryl Mae Mendez – Accounting Clerk, Bank Teller

I am Deceryl Mae Mendez, you can call me Des. I have been happily married for seven years and am blessed with two wonderful children, a daughter and a son. I graduated from Foundation University with a degree in Business Administration majoring in Management Accounting.

Looking back, I did not even think nor imagine myself working at home, but the same with Kara Chan’s story, life always surprises us daily. I have encountered many people who opted to work from home and when the pandemic happened it opened my mind and gave me the idea that I can grow. provide and enjoy more quality time with my family by working at home. I knew in my heart that God planted this dream and vision of working from home with a great sense of purpose. I hope that the Virtual Assistant Team will be the first to open the doors for me and be part of my journey from working in the corporate world to working full-time virtually.

I began my professional journey as an Accounting Clerk and later transitioned into the banking industry, where I had the privilege of working with one of the top three banks in the Philippines. Working with one of the top three banks for almost 13 years helped me to grow personally and professionally.

I was able to work as a New Accounts Clerk, Teller, Loans, and Sundries Clerk. I deal with various sensitive and confidential data, deal with various clients including those belonging to high net worth individuals and corporations, accounts and investments, a lot of paperwork, filing, and data entry of all client records to be accessed by almost all employees nationwide.

We always undergo training to upskill our knowledge and give our best customer service. Working in a fast-paced environment makes me a pro at multi-tasking but at the same time not neglecting the integrity of the documents. But as life throws challenges, I was promoted into a position where I will be away from my family most of the time. I mean who would not be happy for a promotion and growth, right? I really wanted growth because it always excites me to learn something new.

For me, knowledge is power. But on the other hand, it means I will be working away from my family. I could not leave my young and growing children in their formative years. Time is gold and time spent away from my family is also time wasted. I can handle all work challenges and pressures, just allow me to work and go home to my family at the end of the day. They are my life support, battery, and my biggest inspiration. Thankfully, I always hear success stories of mothers who opted to work from home to spend more quality time with their children.

I want to take that great leap of faith to transition into working from home. It is not an easy decision, full of the unknown but I am highly adaptable and a fast learner. I can apply all the skills, experience, and wisdom I have acquired from my work experiences. I know that working from home can elevate our social status, and I can provide more to my family. Working from home is best for me and my family.

I aim to grow further with the Virtual Assistant Team. I am excited and eager to learn new skills and knowledge that I can fully apply to my personal and professional growth.
