Glennie Cabaña – Virtual Assistant, Technical Customer Support
Hello, I’m Glennie, but feel free to call me Glenn. At 25, I’m an undergraduate studying for a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at St. Cecilia’s College, a journey I embarked on in 2020. I graduated from Senior High School with a focus on Accountancy, Business, and Management at Naga National High School, where I spent two years.
After high school, I aimed to continue my education, but financial constraints led me to seek employment instead. As the eldest sibling in my family, I take on the role of the breadwinner, a term we use in the Philippines. It brings me immense joy to be able to contribute, even in small ways, to support my family.
In my spare time, I enjoy binge-watching Netflix, but I find that I often prefer tackling household chores. There’s something satisfying about keeping my space tidy and organised. Writing poetry is another passion of mine, especially when I’m feeling down. Additionally, I love diving into eBooks and Wattpad stories, and I often find myself crafting my own short tales as well.
During that period, I spent around a year in the BPO sector as a customer and technical support representative. My responsibilities included assisting clients with their accounting reports, which involved working with bookkeepers, self-employed individuals, and small business owners both in the US and Australia, specifically regarding their QuickBooks accounts.
I decided to resign to seek new opportunities that would allow me to further develop my skills in a different industry and also to have a convenient workplace so I now transition into the world of virtual freelancing.
Currently, I work with US clients as an Admin Assistant and handle various office tasks, including data entry. I’ve been in this role for four months after transitioning to become a Virtual Assistant. My responsibilities include inputting data into their database, managing inbox follow-ups, and generating monthly reports for each insurance using Google Sheets.
Having a Virtual Assistant is incredibly dependable for me, as it allows me to manage my tasks from home, making it very convenient. Although my experience is limited, I have confidence in my ability to learn quickly and absorb the knowledge you share with me, as I am both a fast learner and an eager explorer. My ultimate aim is to ensure that my family and I are secure both financially and physically, allowing us the freedom to purchase whatever we desire and to own our own home and land. This is why I am so motivated to find an additional job.
I aim to progress in my career by gaining new skills and knowledge that will enrich both my professional and personal life, all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a virtual or freelance environment.
