Jennelyn P. Marollano – Payroll Specialist and Bookkeeper

jennelyn-marollano-formalHi, my name is Jennelyn. I was born on July 10th, 1992, so I am 27 years old.

I grew up in a humble family. My mother died when I was 7 years old. I witnessed how hard my father worked to raise us 4 siblings alone – to the extent that he could not afford to send us to college. By the way, I am the youngest among the four siblings.

I decided to look for a scholarship, and luckily I got two – a government and a university scholarship. I learned to be independent. To support myself I worked while studying at night. After four years of fighting for my survival, I can proudly say I graduated in college with a degree in Business Administration major in Financial Management and endured the real world battle!

I got married in 2014 to a God fearing man and decided to live with his family. My husband introduced me to a friend who owns a BPO company, and I was hired as Jr Finance Officer. At that time, I didn’t have any experience until my supervisor jennelyn-marollano-with-daughterpatiently trained me. After a month I was able to master the workload.

I am very enthusiast in terms of gaining new knowledge. I am very keen to details. I love to explore and initiate new processes to make my work fast, efficient and reliable.

I’ve been exposed to processing payables, invoices, and receivables. My administrative skills were also developed where I assist employees with their concerns and provide advice on how to resolve their issues. My expertise in payroll became my passion and I was able to enhance it when I transferred to a large BPO company in Davao City. The reason why I left my job was because my husband and I wanted to relocate to Davao for good, as my previous company is located in Legazpi.

I was hired as a payroll specialist and because of my perseverance and dedication, the higher management noticed my efforts. After a year I was promoted as Payroll Officer. Then, I mastered accounting systems like Quickbooks. I was exposed to Bookkeeping and gained knowledge in accounting, especially journal entries, Reconciliation of jennelyn-marollano-outingpayroll summary vs quickbooks, taxation and encoding of employee databases. The thing that I like most about my bosses is that they give credit and recognition of a job well done.

My husband is currently working as virtual assistant and I was inspired on how remote working give you more freedom and time to spend for your family. For the past 3 years I’ve sacrificed a lot. I couldn’t give more time to my daughter as I always arrived home at 3 or 4am almost everyday due to lots of deliverables that had strict deadlines. When my health became affected due to fatigue, I decided to take a shot at the virtual industry.

Now while pursuing for this new career I am currently enjoying attending training for Virtual Assistants and learning about US payroll and taxation.

I am very excited and would love to impart my knowledge and skills to your company to the best of my ability.
