Jose Cruz – Administrative Assistant, ESL

Hi everyone, my name is JV Cruz and I am very pleased to be of service. I grew up believing that I was meant for greater things, and that I can change the world by influencing one person at a time. In this light, I chose to become a basketball coach by day and an ESL teacher by night. I have dedicated my time teaching people of all ages.

Let me share with you my journey.

I am the eldest in a family of 5, I have 2 siblings and my childhood was literally a roller coaster ride. My parents were able to provide for us amidst the ongoing economic crisis in the 90’s. Because of their grit and persistence, I was able to graduate with a degree in AB Interdisciplinary Studies from Ateneo de Manila University in 2004. After graduation, while looking for a career, I was driven not by passion but with the need to give back to my family. At first, I was not sure of what career I was going to pursue, but eventually, after years of searching, I was led to become a Basketball coach. I really loved this path for I was able to land a job that was focused on educating young individuals to become better versions of themselves.

When my youngest daughter was born, I needed to stay at home since we did not believe in acquiring help. That was the time when I started my career as an ESL teacher. I taught young and old people the English language and I really felt driven to make a crack in the global barrier. Because of my dedication, I was acquired by our training team and I was tasked to train new teachers to become beacons of the English language.

Now, as we enter the anniversary year of the Pandemic, I have been learning more skills to further my career as a basketball coach like video editing and public speaking with presenting diagrams and the likes. As it has been a take away of mine to better myself in every opportunity I get. In terms of teaching, since the Philippines has transitioned to online schooling, I am very much dedicated to teaching my children all subjects and this has been a level up for my skill as a teacher.
