Joycelyn Alag – Property Preservation Bid Coordinator

I go by the name Jais, and I’m the youngest among my five siblings. I have 2 guard dogs but they stay at my parents’ house. To gain independence, I decided to rent a room with a balcony that offers a fantastic view and a refreshing atmosphere.

I hold a degree in BS Chemistry and my goal is to find a work-from-home job with a dayshift schedule. This way, I’ll have more time to enjoy life and spend it with my loved ones. After all, there’s so much more to life than just earning money and paying bills.

After graduating, I tried working in the manufacturing industry as a Laboratory Analyst for a brief period of 11 months. However, I quickly realised that it wasn’t the right fit for me.

That’s when I decided to explore opportunities as a Project New Associate in the corporate world. The generous employee benefits and compensation packages offered by these companies caught my attention. Although I wasn’t entirely sure about the role at first, I embraced the challenge when I was deployed to the project. During my probation period, I was overwhelmed by the classroom and virtual training provided by the company. These resources proved to be useful, as they equipped me with the skills to professionally respond to emails, efficiently use Microsoft Excel like extract reports using shortcuts, create engaging PowerPoint presentations, conduct face-to-face meetings, and actively participate in brainstorming sessions.

Working alongside a team of talented young individuals pushed me to enhance my creative abilities. Whenever a task was assigned to me, I eagerly explored different approaches that could benefit the entire team. I firmly believe that maintaining an optimistic mindset and a willingness to contribute are essential values that foster better collaboration. Over the course of five years, I had the opportunity to learn, upskill, and earn simultaneously. Then, the pandemic struck. It prompted me to consider a permanent work-from-home setup, regardless of the role.

After months of sending out applications, I finally landed a job as a Property Preservation Bid Coordinator. It was my first experience working the graveyard shift. I used to be responsible for reviewing and editing new work or repair bids submitted by vendors for a specific property. My role also involved communicating with vendors to clarify the work and its significance. I had the authority to decide whether to proceed with the work or not, and I would negotiate pricing to maximise the company’s profit.

I aspire to advance in my career, acquiring additional skills and knowledge to enhance my personal growth and effectively apply them to both my professional and personal life.

Hope to collaborate with you soon.
