Karen Donkin – Marketing Manager

Here’s me in a nutshell 🙂

I am forty-one years of age, female, married, and have a busy little 5 year old. I arrived in Australia on 12 Feb 2020 with my family from South Africa. I spent 10 months in Perth, before relocating to Gold Coast, Qld! I am highly organised, love spreadsheets and I’m a stickler for routine / following processes.

The majority of my working career has seen me in travel. I have worked as receptionist, travel consultant, groups consultant and most of my 20 years in travel has seen me in senior management positions, focusing on Marketing. This career path has also allowed me the opportunity to travel extensively around the globe.

While working full-time, my husband and I started our own company, Home Organic, in 2009 – specialising in monkey-proof veggie gardens and later rainwater harvesting. Home Organic sadly closed in May 2014, after full time work commitments made it difficult to keep it alive. However, having run our own business has taught us invaluable business lessons and skills, which I have used and implemented in my daily work ethic.

I am a hard worker, positive person, fast learner and loyal. I am always eager to take on new challenges and see all projects through to the very end. One of my key strengths is that I am very organised, and a strong ‘process’ person. I am extremely thorough and pay very close attention to detail. I work well alone or as a team member, and I am capable of taking on projects and managing them through.

Within the last eight years I have grown tremendously within the online Marketing field including website development, IT project management, Social Media and much more. Although I have worked, mostly in Travel, my Marketing experience can be applied in any industry.
