Kim Vergel Rocha – Technical Support Specialist
Hello there! My name is Kim Vergel Rocha, and you can just call me Kim. I am a married, and a first-time dad to a toddler.
Let me walk you through my educational background.
I took up Bachelor of Science in Computer Science during my first year college, and since I wasn’t born with a golden spoon, my family couldn’t afford a laptop to support my studies. Then I decided to shift to Marketing Management.
I remember way back when I was in third year college, I have all the time in the world, then I decided to be a working student in order for me to support my studies. I was hired as a service crew and i think that’s the most challenging part of my career because I need to balance my work as well as my studies.
Due to my grit and dedication, I graduated with a degree in Marketing Management from Polytechnic University.
I started out working as a Salesman at Wilcon depot, wherein we assist customers when it comes to buying tiles, lavatories, watercloset and other DIY tools. That lasted for 6 months. Due to my passion for technology, I applied as an IT Helpdesk Technician at Stefanini Philippines Inc. Luckily, I was hired and worked for them for almost 3 and a half years.
Surprisingly, it didn’t take long for me to be able to adapt to the new environment. With them, I have developed my communication skills, analytical skills and multitasking ability.
Since I wanted to expand my knowledge and skillset, I applied at FIS Global Solutions as a Technical Support Engineer wherein we are the first point of contact for IT-related issues such as password reset, unlocking account, setting up printers and scanners, assisting new hires in connecting to VPN and setting up their mobile phone authenticators, etc..
I’ve been working from the office forever and a day, and I just realised that working from home saves us time from commuting, fewer distractions as we are working in the comfort of our home, and it also increases my productivity. Aside from that, it also promotes work-life balance.
As a first-time parent, I can say that time is the most important factor I can give to my family. That is why I self-studied on how to become an effective virtual assistant, so I can work from home full time while being a good provider to them.
I aim to grow further with my career, and learn more skills and knowledge along the way to better myself and apply them to both my work and life.
