Mai Perez – Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager
“I think that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and you put the work and time into it. I think your mind really controls everything. ” – Michael Phelps
Hi, I’m Mai. I’ve been in a home-based industry since 2009. Prior to that, I worked in the BPO industry for 5 years. During that time BPO was a new thing and not all people could pass the training.
I’ve never experienced what is referred to as ‘call center hopping’ because the management of the call center I was in, was fantastic! Plus I was handling customer acquisition, which is very new to me and challenging, but still a very good experience. I stayed there for 4 years until the company shut down their Manila office to give work to their people during the US Recession (which is understandable).
I know you’re all familiar with this quote: “When one door closes, another opens” – true enough! My friend referred me to his Australian client who runs an agency online. At first, I was very sceptical, but little did I know that this was the start of my home-based journey.
My 1st account as a freelancer required me to do a lot of calls to various companies. Though the pay was good, I didn’t want to be stuck doing calls for the rest of my life, so I said to myself I need to do something about this. With my perseverance and a sprinkle of fortunate events, I had clients who’re generous and paid for some of my training. During free times I enrolled myself into some free courses online, and watched a lot of influencer’s videos on YouTube just to update my skills and keep up with the latest trends in marketing.
I finished college yeeeaaaars ago! I took up a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Management. Though I finished college, most of my skills are from my experience. Nothing beats hard work and experience.
Now, I offer my skills to business owners who feel lost in the digital marketing world and in need of serious branding. I help business owners build brand awareness and online reputation. With every campaign I handled, my goal was to turn fans into customers and customers into advocates.
