Melie Cortes – Licensed Professional Teacher, Travel Consultant

melie-rose-cortes-vaHello there! I’m Melie, a Licensed Professional Teacher who has an extensive background in the field of Education and in the Customer Service Industry.

I started off my teaching career quite early, doing freelance tutorials since I was in high school. It then became my constant side hustle, even after being employed as a full-time Faculty for a Chinese School and a Business and Design School. I have always been passionate about knowledge and sharing what I know with others. Throughout my teaching journey, I got the chance to give lessons to toddlers, kindergarten, high school, and college students, and even adult foreigners who wanted to learn the English language. However, teaching in the Philippines can be very demanding and can really get a bit draining. I felt like I no longer have the luxury to enjoy my time with the things that matter most in life. That’s when I started looking into shifting to a new role.

The Business Processing Outsource Industry seemed appealing to me since I am a people person and I thrive in a fast-paced environment. I eventually got hired as a Level 1 Customer Service / Technical Support Representative for a Canadian Telco Account without any prior knowledge nor experience. With hard work and the willingness to learn new skills, I worked my way up the ladder and became a Level 2 Back Office Representative, a Product Trainer, and a Quality Assurance Analyst within the span of 2 years. I was very overwhelmed as I received one promotion after another. My track record in delivering positive results and exceptional work ethic made me achieve what others may think impossible for a newbie.

I also got the opportunity to be hired as an International Travel Claims Consultant at Allianz Thailand for their Australian Account where I got the opportunity to work with a wide array of people and got to experience a whole new level of adaptability and flexibility. I was really glad to have landed an international role because I personally believe that everyone should embrace the love for traveling, unveiling new cultures, and stepping out of our comfort zones.

  • Doing inbound and outbound calls
  • Carrying-out functions such as billing inquiries, credit adjustments, and settlements
  • Email management
  • Handling travel claims queries and assessing claims
  • Providing technical support
  • Auditing calls, conducting team huddles, meetings, up-trainings, and certification training
  • Creating graphic designs for training materials using Canva and Adobe Photoshop
  • Attending call calibrations, and client meetings
  • Conducting interviews
  • Preparing clients decks

I put my heart into everything that I do, I am highly motivated, results-oriented, and I’m always willing to go the extra mile to reach my goals and learn along the way.
