Nerieza Pulanco – General Virtual Assistant, Export Merchandiser

Hi there, I am Nerieza Pulanco or you can call me Nerie for short. I am a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful girls. I graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering in Saint Loius College. You read it right! Industrial Engineering but became an Export Merchandiser for more than 15 years.

Just to give a backstory, I landed this work by chance or luck as I was really applying for a job as a Production Leader at this manufacturing company, but the interviewer at that time was also looking for an export merchandiser for the same company, so he offered me the said position and I gladly accepted as he was so accommodating and is willing to train me. Plus added bonus, we are both from the northern part of the Philippines and both knows the Ilocano dialect ( me finding out later on that all off the office staffs are Ilocanos). Bonus points for me.

It did not take long for me to learn the ropes of the role. Through the years, it has equipped me with a diverse skillset with proven ability to manage complex tasks, prioritise effectively, and build strong client relationships. I can also work well with different teams for faster and effective management of clients’ accounts.

My capabilities were tested 2 years ago due to our logistics officer’s sudden demise. I was assigned to take over the role and learn everything on my own. With determination and resourcefulness, I can proudly say that I was able to learn and make SOP’s and training materials for this role that I passed on to the next logistics officer.

So, looking back, I would say that I have been working as a Virtual Assistant without me realising it but in an office setting. Now that there is an opportunity to work from home and be with my family and look after my kids, I am very willing to grab this opportunity. As I believe that would be beneficial to my well-being as well as to my family, financially and emotionally.
