Reyna Beloy – Communications Specialist

Hey! My name is Reyna Beloy but you can call me Rey for short. I am a transgender woman living in the small city of Tacloban located in the Philippines. I am the eldest among three children of an accountant for a mother and a civil engineer for a father. I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts at Leyte Normal University in 2019. I really love to travel and my favorite place to go to relax is the beach. Growing up, me and my family used to go to the different beaches here in Eastern Visayas. Granting that success will be on my side, I’d like to take them on a trip to beaches we haven’t been yet.

Since I graduated, I have been employed in different government offices. My first job, I was an administrative assistant at the provincial government office of Leyte for six months. I got laid off during the pandemic, then I got hired at my second employment as a Communications Specialist at the city government of Tacloban under the Human Resource Management and Development Office for more than a year. I recently attended training to be an air traffic controller last May of 2023 but got washed out in July. It was maybe one of the most devastating things that has happened in my life yet. But, it led me to the discovery of the world of being a Virtual Assistant.

When the pandemic happened, everything in my life changed and that’s when I also learned about being a Virtual Assistant although I had my reservations towards the profession first. I am currently in pursuit of finding a career that will bring success to my dreams for myself and my family and I believe this career will bring me closer to those dreams. I recently found out how fun and exciting it is to be a Virtual Assistant through my friends who have been in the field for quite some time. This got me interested and I gave it a chance since I also need a way to get up from a slump.

This experience is new to me being a public employee for two years. I am thrilled to embark on this journey knowing that I will have a chance to learn valuable things that I can apply in my life and a chance to meet interesting people from different walks of life. To new risks!
