Richi Ana Mary Tresreyes – Technical Operations Manager, Customer Service Representative

Hi, I’m Richi Ana Mary Tresreyes, you can call me Ching. I am a solo parent with a mother of 1 amazing boy. I am an undergraduate of Political Science in Central Mindanao University. I couldn’t imagine that I would be working in the BPO industry after working as an OFW in Taiwan way back in 2013.

Still fresh in my memory how I started my BPO life. From Call centre hunting, to walking around tall and busy streets. I don’t have any idea which BPO company should I apply. The only weapon I had during that time was to converse and answer questions in straight English. It was not easy for me then. But as determined as I wanted to land a job, I was hired after how many failed interviews and online examinations I went through. When I got the job, I never thought it could be more challenging. Doing multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment. But, being flexible and resilient, I was able to adapt to the new environment and gained friends.

Over the years, I was able to conquer my fears and challenges. Five years as a customer care and technical representative. I stepped on the leadership ladder and was promoted as a Supervisor for Customer care for over a year and Tech Supervisor for more than 2 years and recently Tech Operations Manager. I never realised I could be a mother at work for 70 agents. It’s not easy to look after these people but if you have the passion of helping others, sharing knowledge and best practices, instilling open communication and respect everything runs smoothly. Being recognized as Top manager is great but not as rewarding as seeing your people following your steps in the ladder and seeing them confident and successful.

Working in a BPO company is not as stable as other jobs. The account was pulled out. An inevitable circumstance that we don’t have any control of. I can’t be jobless. I’m trying my luck here in the VA world. This is another challenge that I have to face, competing with numerous numbers of VA applicant that has the same determination as I have.

Working at home for me is very different from working onsite, but this set-up will be best for me and my son. Being able to work at home to personally take care of my son and attend to his studies as needed. I can now give more time to my family aside from providing for them.

I’m looking forward to a successful work-from-home career. I am new to this environment but willing to learn more skills and knowledge to be an asset to the company rather than a liability. Aiming for work-life balance while working at home.
