Robert Bernal – Customer Service Representative

Robert-Bernal-vaHello there, my name is Robert. Some of my friends call me “Bobby”.

I am an undergraduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I was on my third-year level when I had an accident that led me to stop my studies. I have undergone surgery that cost us a lot of money and that’s one reason why I needed to stop going to school. After I recovered from the surgery, I went to look for a job.
My first job was as a lead scrubber to a small company called Client Link Virtual Services. I worked as a lead scrubber for a couple of months. After that, one of the accounts under the same company requested more workforce and I was chosen for the position. The position they offered was “eBay and Amazon lister”, where we update the details and the price of the products listed on the website. If we receive orders from our customers, we use Team Viewer to access our client’s computer responsible for printing labels. I have worked with them for a year and decided to resign to look for better opportunities.

Next, I tried applying to a BPO Company where they offer reasonable pay. If you notice my resume, I have worked with my first BPO company for just a few couple of months and transferred to another BPO Company after that. The reason was, one of my friends told me that they were offering higher pay so I decided to switch over. It was really enjoyable working with them especially by the time you’ll receive your paycheck. After a year working a four by eleven shift; meaning you’ll work for four days with an 11-hour shift, and under a billing department, you can already feel that you are burning out of exhaustion. And so again, I resigned, tried another line of work which is ESL Tutorial.

Robert-Bernal-vaLuckily, in that same month, I found a company that is looking for ESL Tutors. I applied and got the job. Yehey! This time my shift starts at 3 pm to 12 midnight. It was really a relief that I have found this line of work and I’m already considering this as my stable job. I really enjoyed staying in that company but some things happened. They decided to let go of most of their employees in an office setting and I was included. So then again, I looked for a job with the same nature. I searched online, checked the newspaper, then I received a call from a small ESL Company and grabbed the opportunity. The salary was not that high as I was expecting, and so again, I resigned and planned to become a Virtual Assistant in an office setting. I prepared myself for the interview and did my research as to what I may be working with as a Virtual assistant, but here comes the onset of COVID-19 in our area that led me to be unemployed for more than a year.

After 14 months of unemployment, in November of 2020, our LGU was offering a Contact Tracer Position for just 2 months, just to suffice the need for Contact Tracers due to the continuously growing cases in our area. Despite the danger I might be facing, I still applied for the position, even if it’s only temporary.

After two months working as a Contact Tracer, I was jobless again. But one of my close friends offered me a home-based job and set up an interview for me. I hadn’t thought of it and I said “I don’t have any experience working at home-based” and my friend told me “That’s okay, just attend the interview.” At first, I really didn’t have any idea what I would be expecting for the interview. But luckily, I passed and started working with them for the time being. I didn’t expect it though, but the work will just last for the summer season. So, they decided to let us go after summer.

Now, I am looking for another work-from-home opportunity, and being a Virtual Assistant is what I see best to start off my career.

That’s my story. I hope to hear from you soon.
