Rustan Alvarez – Technical Support, Virtual Assistant
Hi, I am Rustan Alvarez. You can call me Stan for short. I am the father of two wonderful boys and girls. I graduated with an associate in hospitality management from the Asian Institute of Science and Technology. A few years back, I was working as a service crew in a fast food chain and a stockman/salesman. I never thought I would end up working in customer service. Life is full of surprises, but I guess if you really want something and you aim for that goal, you can achieve it.
I started working as a collection specialist in one of the multimillion-peso financing companies in the Philippines. I honed my experience as a customer service representative from there. Little by little, I learned and tried to research the industry of customer service representatives and found out that this is a trending industry worldwide, so I got interested in this field, and after that previous job, I also had experience in credit card banks as customer service general inquiries about their balance, cards, promotions, etc.
Then I discovered this BPO company Foundever with a line of business healthcare accounts in Metlife Insurance as a webtech support a combination of customer service and technical support for those who are members creating their online accounts and some basic inquiries for their plan benefits or insurance. Then the 2020 pandemic came and started this work-at-home setup. I built my experience through customer service, and later I began watching tutorials on Youtube on how to be a virtual assistant.
I learned that was not an easy path, but since I’m working at home, I continue learning by watching videos and enrolling in some courses like general virtual assistant, lead generation specialist, social media management, and gaining certificates, and luckily I acquired clients for short project-based and adapt to this environment using tools and flow of the process like email management, calendar management, lead generation, document and file management, research tools, data entry tools, and social media management.
Over time, success can be attained by having a positive attitude, constantly putting in your best effort, and taking full responsibility for all elements of your work. It’s also critical to comprehend the company’s culture and atmosphere. When you put your all into anything, nothing is too difficult; just comprehend, ask for help when you need it, and take responsibility for your actions.
Although working from home is significantly different from working in an office, I know that this is the greatest atmosphere for my family and myself.
