Shem Millama Suyom – ESL Teacher, Technical Support Representative

Hi, I am Shem Millama Suyom, and you can call me Shem. I am based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where I have built a career focused on communication, adaptability, and supporting clients from diverse backgrounds. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Visayas State University in the Philippines, and my professional journey has taken me through customer service, administrative work, and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Each role has helped me develop a versatile skill set, which I am eager to bring to a Virtual Assistant position.

I began my career in customer service, where I worked with international clients to resolve issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and ensure a positive experience. In these roles, I learned how to manage tasks efficiently under pressure, develop strong communication skills, and maintain professionalism in every interaction. As a Migration Admin Assistant, I expanded my expertise by managing documentation, assisting clients with visa applications, and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements. This role strengthened my attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

Transitioning into teaching English allowed me to further refine my communication and organisational skills. Over the past year, I have designed and delivered lessons tailored to the needs of my students, fostering critical thinking and personal growth. Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds has taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of clear, effective communication.

While I have greatly enjoyed teaching, I am looking to transition into a Virtual Assistant role for several reasons. The number of Vietnamese students learning English is growing rapidly, which may reduce the demand for expat teachers in the future. At the same time, the demand for digital marketing and virtual assistance is increasing. This excites me, as it presents an opportunity to work in a dynamic field where I can gain practical experience and expand my knowledge. I am particularly eager to develop skills in digital marketing, blending theory with real-world application.

What draws me to this role is the flexibility and opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment. My experience in customer service, administrative work, and teaching has prepared me to handle a variety of tasks, from data entry to client communication. I am highly organised, detail-oriented, and IT-literate, with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

I am excited to bring my skills, dedication, and enthusiasm to your team. Transitioning to a Virtual Assistant role is not just a career shift for me—it’s a step toward continuous growth, contributing meaningfully to a growing industry, and embracing a new chapter in my professional journey.
