Chin-an Talundata – Customer Service Representative

chin-an-talundata-vaThank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story, and for taking the time to read it. I am the first-born of two siblings, both girls, and we were raised by our Grandmother after our parents separated. Our Lola, as we call her, was the one who took care of us, and we grew up in a happy and content environment, helping her with her seamstress business, which was our primary source of livelihood. My sister and I loved dressing up in the gowns she rented out to clients, and we were often mistaken for twins, even though there’s an 11-month age gap between us. It’s a fun fact that we have three months each year where we’re the same age—something that’s always been a unique and special bond for us.

Looking back now, I realise how joyful my childhood was. My sister and I were always in the same class, from grade school through high school. However, when we went to college, we attended different universities, which gave us the chance to discover new hobbies and make new friends. My university was only a 30-minute drive from home, so I stayed at home with my Grandmother, who is truly my favorite person. I’ve always cherished her cooking, especially her speciality—Chicken Adobo with a special vinaigrette. It’s a dish I could never get tired of.

On a personal note, I’m excited to share that I have a niece, our little princess named Marah, who will be turning five this year. She brings so much joy to our family, and whenever I look at her, I see so much of my little sister in her. Watching her grow is such a wonderful experience, and it makes me so happy to see the next generation in our family.

As for my professional journey, I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education in 2018. After graduation, I worked as a call center representative. However, after six months, I decided to resign and pursue my licensure exam to become a licensed professional teacher. While teaching was something I initially considered, I soon realised that my true passion lies in the BPO industry. Over the past five years in this sector, I’ve gained valuable experience in various roles, and I’m now ready to take on new challenges and continue growing in my career.

My biggest fear is not achieving the dreams I’ve set for myself, which is why I’m working hard every day to reach my goals. One day, I hope to look back and say, ‘You made it”.
