Hanna Jamaica Salido – Executive Assistant

Hi, my name is Hanna Jamaica Salido, and I have been a full-time mom for almost 4 years now. I am a wife of a seafarer and a mother of 2 beautiful girls. I am a Tourism graduate from Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

After I graduated, I started my career as an Executive Assistant to the General Manager in a Manufacturing Company way back in 2010. But it didn’t last long, it only lasted for about 6 months not because I didn’t like the job but because I was still young at that time and I was looking for a more challenging role which led me to being a Casino Dealer.

I worked for 4 years in my first casino and applied to another casino and the last job I had before I became a full-time mom with a position of Casino Supervisor. Here, I lasted for 6 amazing years, and because I got pregnant with my second baby and no one would take care of my eldest, I had to resign. That was one of the hardest decisions I have made so far. I didn’t want to leave the corporate world, because I am a bit scared of being unemployed and not earning my own money, owing to the fact that I am an individual who wants to stand up on her own. And as a strong-willed woman, it is really hard to give up something that will lower your self-esteem. But surprisingly, I enjoyed being a full-time mom. It is the hardest yet the most fulfilling job for me. Now that my kids are 5 and 3 and can understand things already. I want to be productive and spend my idle times by working at home.

Months ago, I got curious about being a Virtual Assistant. I mean, earning your own money while taking care of kids, doing house chores and working in the comfort of your home, would be perfect for a mom like me. To regain my confidence, because I feel like I lost it. That is why I did my research on how to become one. And luckily, there are lots of free trainings online. I keep on reading and then enrolled in one of the paid training courses online which I enjoyed and learned a lot about being an effective Virtual Assistant.

I believe that I have some of the important skills to be an effective Virtual Assistant. Some of those are being organised, detail-oriented, reliable and efficient with strong communication, time management skills, and excellent customer service. I think these skills will help me a lot to easily adapt to a new environment.
