Jan Esperanzate – Virtual Medical Assitant

jan-esperanzate-vaA pleasure to meet you! I am Jan Marie N. Esperanzate, but Jan is much more worth remembering. I have a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center Inc., a premier university hospital in the Philippines. At the early age of 13, I was inspired by my aunt, a doctor, to pursue a medical career. I started helping my aunt as her clinical assistant; handling patient’s intake assessment forms, taking their vitals, keeping their records, and making sure that patient inquiries are being answered. Lo and behold, teenager Jan would not have thought that this was already preparing me for my future.

Immediately the same year when I graduated and garnered my license as a professional Medical Technologist, I started working in a clinical and hospital laboratory. I spent three years analyzing blood and other body fluids, performing various laboratory procedures, extracting blood from various age groups, and swabbing covid and non-covid patients during my tenure.

I was able to use my extra time to spread awareness about the importance of being financially protected and achieving financial literacy and freedom. I became a licensed financial advisor and Assistant Unit Manager at PruLife UK. Furthermore, I was also given the opportunity to give back to my alma mater and share my knowledge and experience by working as a Clinical Instructor and Professor in the College of Allied Health Professions. I had a great time being able to teach students an easy way of understanding the lessons I had a difficult time dealing with when I was in their position.

As your Virtual Medical Assistant, I am equipped with the skills for live charting, transcribing, handling calls, and performing administrative tasks. I believe myself to be effective and efficient, proactive, and a continuous learner. I enjoy working with a team and collaborating with my colleagues, which makes it easier for both of us to have a great bond and an excellent workspace.

One of the valuable work ethics I was able to bring with me since I was 13 years old, is always being empathic to others. By placing myself in another person’s position, I can optimally understand how I can offer assistance, service, or even just kindness to them. Even with such experience, I am passionate and humble enough, still having a hunger for knowledge, and willing to sharpen my skills in order to become the best Healthcare Virtual Assistant I aspire to be.
