Jhipper Potolin – Team Lead, Workforce Management Specialist, Data Analyst
Hi my name is Jhipper Potolin. I know, I have a unique name, and I myself don’t know the meaning of my name. But I love it because I got it from my Dad, who passed away when I was 4 years old. When my dad passed away, my mom got depressed and she decided to leave me and my older sister to our father’s side grandparents.
So our grandparents took care of us until I finished elementary school and my sister finished her high school. Our mom then took us back under her wings. At this time, my mom has already found a new husband and they already have 3 children. They took care of us. I got to finish my high school but my older sister didn’t continue college because of financial problems. So she decided to work instead.
Fast forward, when it was my turn to go college, my mom and stepfather still don’t have the means, so I worked hard to get into a State University. My tuition was free, however, I still need money for transportation and food. And so I have to work while studying. I applied to a BPO company and I have been there until I finished college. So I finished BS Entrepreneurship at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
After graduating, I still pursued my career in BPO until I got promoted. I learned a lot from my first company. When the pandemic happened, I decided to resign from my first company because they were requiring me to work on site and I couldn’t risk that time because my mom has weak lungs and if I got Covid and spread in our house, I know it would be a big problem. And so I fortunately discovered the WFH set up, and until then, I never came back to working onsite. It is just sad that my current company just recently announced that they are laying off some employees, and unfortunately, I am one of them. So right now I am looking for a new home where I can showcase my talent and experiences.
By the way, I have not shared yet, I am happily married to my 10-year girlfriend. We met since we were in high school, and I’m happy that we stayed and held on to each other. Although we don’t have kids yet, we are happily living together with our 3 dogs. This is my story, hopefully you enjoy reading. Thank you!
