Loudelin Tamayo – Administrative Assistant

loudelin-tamayo-vaHello, I am Loudelin Tamayo but most people know me as Cheque. I am a mother of 3 lovable kids, a 9-year-old boy, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old little princess. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Liceo de Cagayan University. I have been in the corporate world for 8 years as a warehouse specialist at a Pharmaceutical company handling 24 branches in Mindanao. I am responsible for monitoring stocks, managing delivery staff, ordering fast-moving items that could sustain well for one month for all branches, booking for shipping of stocks, and coordinating with couriers.

Unfortunately, when the pandemic started, I had to give up my work for my daughter. It was a choice between life and death because at that time my youngest daughter was still a newborn. My husband was one of the employees that were laid off cause of the pandemic. I couldn’t imagine how we were going to sustain our daily needs. That’s when I started my online business, selling foods online just to meet our basic needs. Posting on my Facebook page is the tool for my business at that time, luckily my business was growing day by day. I didn’t know how to cook or bake, I just learned it from YouTube, but because of my eagerness and self-confidence, I was able to help in providing for the needs of our family.

loudelin-tamayo-vaWhen the situation was starting to back to normal, my business started to slow down. That where I started to think of another way for me to earn. My kids are already going to school, and we have to pay for their tuition. My husband was already working but it wasn’t enough. I started to search for better opportunities online. I enrolled myself in “How to become a virtual assistant”, and I started watching YouTube to how to get started.
To be honest, I am the type of person that doesn’t learn by watching only. I applied to many websites that hire this kind of platform but no one hired me because I don’t have any experience. I told myself, how can I have experience if they won’t let me experience it? But I still believe there will be a perfect time for me.

Hope you enjoy reading my story.
