Maricel Gayo – Virtual Assistant
Hello! I’m Maricel, I’m a stay-at-home parent. I have three children, the two are working and my youngest is still studying in college. My husband is a seafarer but sad to say he’s not able to continue his work on a vessel due to his medical conditions. That is why I am eager to learn how to be a virtual assistant or social media manager. I’ve joined training and webinars because it’s a big opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and learnings and i go to watch YouTube as well. I really love learning because it is a part of who I am. Just makes me excited to learn kinds of stuff that I did not have skills in yet.
In our generation today, there are many technologies that we need to study and learn. Technology advancements are needed so that we can apply this in our work. I realised that when I go outside of work, there are still a lot of things that I need to learn. Just like creating graphics, video editing or even a website. I do not keep myself inside the box. In training and webinars I attended, allowed me to apply what I know in practical settings, which is different from studying on my own. And also, it will improve my communication skills and build my confidence. I see to it that this is a chance to learn from experienced coaches who can guide and teach me how to succeed in my chosen field. Their suggestion and feedback are important for my growth.
Being a mother does not mean you’re just doing chores and taking care of your children and your husband. Yes, as a mother and wife, I did all that. But I found out that, as a mother you can explore new learnings, And even though I am in my 50s continue and embrace learning. I know, it is hard for me to be a virtual assistant or social media manager because I am a newbie, but I am eager to pursue this career because I know it really a big help for me and to my family when I get hired.
