Overview
Michelle Angcao – General Virtual Assistant, ESL
My name is Michelle Angcao, and I am a proud mother of three, the breadwinner of my family, and a dedicated professional from the Philippines. My journey has been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to growth—both personally and professionally.
I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, a field that has always fascinated me due to its ever-evolving nature and its potential to transform lives. My education laid a solid foundation for the diverse career path I would later embark on.
Early in my career, I took on the role of an ESL teacher at HANA Overseas Language Institute. This experience was not just about teaching English; it was about building connections, fostering understanding, and helping students overcome language barriers. It was in this role that I developed strong communication skills and a deep appreciation for the power of education.
After my time as an ESL teacher, I transitioned into a role as a Math Instructor at Kumon Phils. Here, I found joy in helping students unlock their potential in mathematics. The experience taught me the value of patience, perseverance, and the importance of tailoring learning approaches to meet individual needs. It was incredibly rewarding to watch my students gain confidence and develop a genuine interest in a subject that many find challenging.
My journey then led me to the tech industry, where I worked in Quality Assurance at Maxim Integrated. This role was a significant shift from teaching, but it allowed me to apply my analytical skills and attention to detail in ensuring that products met the highest standards. Working in Quality Assurance required a meticulous approach, as even the smallest error could impact the entire production process. It was a role that taught me the importance of precision, thoroughness, and accountability.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, like many others, I faced uncertainty. However, instead of allowing the situation to hinder my progress, I saw it as an opportunity to adapt and grow. The pandemic accelerated the shift to remote work, and I embraced this change by transitioning into freelancing. This move opened up a new world of opportunities for me, allowing me to explore different roles and expand my skill set.
As a freelancer, I took on various roles, including Graphic Designer, Executive Virtual Assistant (EVA), General Virtual Assistant (GVA), and Creative Assistant. Each of these roles required a unique set of skills, and I relished the challenge of mastering them. As a Graphic Designer, I used my creativity to bring ideas to life visually. As an EVA and GVA, I provided critical support to executives and businesses, helping them navigate the complexities of remote work. My role as a Creative Assistant allowed me to combine my technical skills with my passion for creativity, supporting projects that required both innovation and precision.
Throughout my career, I have always been driven by a desire to provide for my family and set a strong example for my children. Being the breadwinner is not just a responsibility—it’s a source of pride. It motivates me to continue learning, growing, and pushing the boundaries of what I can achieve. My journey has been anything but linear, but it has been rich with experiences that have shaped me into the versatile, resilient professional I am today.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue exploring new opportunities, learning new skills, and making a meaningful impact in whatever I do.
