Nerissa Samson – Executive Assistant, Real Estate

Nerissa-Samson-vaHi! My name is Nerissa Joy. My friends and colleagues call me Neri or NeJoy, whichever they feel like calling me. Haha!

I’ve been in the BPO Industry for 8 years now and I’m a college undergraduate of Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting. I started working when I was still in college. I was trying to find an OJT as a requirement for my course and luckily I landed my first job as an Outbound Sales Representative. I sold testing meters and offered timeshare for a year before I decided to apply for a Customer Service Role.

I had no idea at first about Outbound Sales. Thankfully, we have scripts given to every customer’s response, but on customer service, you are on your own. You also have to know how to acknowledge, empathize while you provide a solution. I’m glad that I was trained well and eventually received lots of awards for Customer Satisfaction and Top Performer.

I think because of that, I was always included to be one of the pioneers whenever there is a new account. This is where I had my experience of being a phone, email, and chat support. I’ve done customer service, retention, escalation, customer win-back, and collections.

I’ve always wanted growth for myself. I remember I was supposed to transfer to a different site to be one of our Workforce Management, but our Operations Manager didn’t allow me to be released on my start date, I became so upset. That is why when I got hired to a different company, I made myself ready to take on a big step. I made sure that I studied their policies and procedure and work hard to always be on the top. I’m always proactive to share my best practices and help my teammates.

Nerissa-Samson-vaThis helped my confidence to apply for a different role. I’ve had different roles in the company within 9 months. It started when our department’s Vice President talked to me to apply as his Executive Assistant. I learned how to manage his calendar, write minutes for his meeting and work with the Team Leaders. When he left, I became a People Experience Coordinator where I learned how to organize events, enhance my skills for creating artwork for teasers, contacting vendors, and budgeting especially when I do initiatives for rewards and recognition. I’ve always wanted to be a Performance Coach that’s why when there was an opening for the role, I immediately applied and got it.

I had 2 kids at a young age and I can say that it helped me become mature, dealing with people, and loving my job because that’s where I get funds to feed them. But when Covid19 hit, I just realized how much time I lost that I should’ve spent with my kids because I’m so focused on my career growth. I’m glad that a friend told me about being a virtual assistant.

I always believe that whenever you have a goal for yourself, you will always achieve it regardless of where you work. As long as you keep your focus, work hard, and be resilient and flexible. Learn new skills as much as you can because it will always help you in the long run.

This is also why I’m excited to work with you because I see myself growing and achieving goals with you on this new career path.
