Nickler Soria – General Virtual Assistant, Quality Assurance Engineer

nickler-soria-vaHello there, I am Nickler John Soria, but you can call me Nick. I describe myself as a curious and hardworking individual as I try many things to quench my eagerness for knowledge and experience. Like I always say, I don’t want to look back someday regretting things that I didn’t do.

In terms of academics, I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southeastern Philippines and took my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at the same school. I hold licenses as a Mechanical Engineer, a Master Plumber, and a National Certificate Holder in Refrigeration & Air-conditioning and Mechatronics. I am also a certified ProAdvisor at Quickbooks Online which I gained to pass the subject I enrolled in, Managerial Accounting, a pre-requisite for my MBA.

Prior to that, I worked as a Project In-charge in a contractor company’s Factory Automation Department for 2 years. My responsibilities included estimating the Bill of materials using MS Excel, contacting suppliers to obtain price quotations, creating quotes based on the design system, and analyzing As-built plans as reference. I also supervised the repairing and maintaining Air-conditioning units and monitored project progress, manpower, and material costs. Additionally, I presented project designs and cost proposals to clients, conducted research and development tasks, and system analysis, and generated shop drawings in AutoCAD based on client requirements. What I enjoyed about my job at this company was the opportunity to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, spanning from top executives like the President/CEO to salespeople, professionals, and workers. This exposure not only enriched my understanding of my career but also provided valuable insights into the diverse array of people, making a significant impact on me.

nickler-soria-vaDue to the pandemic, I resigned from that job and I transitioned to a position in a Water Utilities Company, where I was part of the Quality Assurance unit. My tasks involved preparing and revising shop drawings of pipes and appurtenances using AutoCAD, inspecting the Water Distribution system on-site whether it coincides with the submitted As-built Plan, and compiling back-to-office reports. I also drafted tapping details with AutoCAD and estimated project costs using Excel. Furthermore, I assessed product brochures for compliance with our standards and attended contractor bidding to verify their adherence to our requirements. I stayed in this company for 3 years.

In retrospect, my journey has been one of continuous growth and exploration, with each experience shaping me into the person I am today: passionate, goal-driven, and open-minded when it comes to learning new things. As I look toward the future, I am eager to embark on new ventures, face fresh challenges, and forge meaningful connections with fellow professionals and my clients. With each step, I remain committed to leaving no room for regrets and always embracing the opportunities that come my way, for they are the stepping stones that shape a fulfilling and purpose-driven career.

With the skills that I have gained from my experiences, I will be able to be of great help to your company. My extensive training in the engineering industry gave me knowledge on how to manage projects, handle people, cost estimates, organize & schedule activities, and multi-task. Further, with my learnings in MBA, I will be an excellent addition to your organization in the pursuit of achieving your business goals.
